And this is the Palestinian moderate....

How on earth can you make concessions with leaders like this???
"The Palestinian leadership will continue to follow Yasser Arafat's path until a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital is established," Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Tuesday during a memorial service marking the fourth anniversary of the iconic Palestinian leader's death.

During the memorial, held at Abbas' Mukataa compound in the West Bank city of Ramallah, the Palestinian president said, "The path of the shahids - Arafat, George Habash (founder of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine) and (assassinated Hamas spiritual leader) Sheikh Ahmed Yassin - is the path that we cherish; it is aimed at upholding the Palestinians' nationalist and sovereign resolutions."

I'm not sure what is so radical about this statement. Everyone seems to agree to a two state solution and it makes reasonable sense the countries' respective areas of Jerusalem could become their respective capital. Though I guess you could make Jerusalem a "free city" a la Treaty of Versailles style but both sides probably would not be down.

Interesting how he is linking very different Palestinian political leaders together and (implicitly) with himself. Got Habash the most 'hands on' radical anti-Oslo Christian/Communist type guy, a more symbolic character in the form of Islamist Yassin and of course the pro-Oslo secular nationalist Arafat who unlike Yassin and Habash renounced terrorism. All about national unity I guess.
